Not Satisfied

Read your policy, if you can't provide a document from airline stating why you weren't able to get on the flight you will receive no reimbursement. We were asked to move to the side and our tickets were given to a pilot and flight attendant in front of us. They just said sorry.

They have totally ignored every communication I have had with them. They have promised to get back to me multiple times and have not responded even once.

I have not received a single communication from them in reply to my many phone calls and written requests. I am now sending a letter to Jeff Wright, Chief Executive Officer letting him know how poorly his company is responding to customer problems.

On April 10th I filed a claim (0009818****) for $742.48 non-recoverable expenses incurred due to a sudden medical emergency, which resulted in my month-long vacation to Spain and UK being cancelled before we left home. In answer to my claim, I received a check for $408.29 instead of the original amount documented and submitted on the claim form.

There was no explanation with the check of what was paid or what was refused, just the amount paid. Two months of repeated phone calls have resulted in Allianz claiming to reopen the case, or Agents claiming they will call me back, or Agents telling me that they will be sending me an email explanation or agents leaving me on hold for forty-seven minutes or more multiple times.

Two months of ongoing phone calls with Allianz have not resulted in a single returned communication from them. Why was my full claim not paid?

No Benefit Huge Waste of Time

I purchased insurance for a round trip flight to Mexico months before my flight. Shortly before the trip, I received communication from Allianz that outlined my coverage and detailed the benefits in bold print.

Unfortunately, my baggage on the return flight was delayed by 48 hours. I chose the no-receipt option when I submitted my claim. However, it was rejected and they asked for receipts, stating that the no-receipt option was only available for the departing flight. I subsequently sent them a copy of their communication which showed no distinction between trip legs but simply mentioned the benefit for baggage delay.

They acknowledged the omission but claimed that the original contract I received months earlier clarified this information. Had they not sent me the communication prior to my trip, I would have referred to the contract. However, I thought the information was accurate.

I asked for the benefit or a refund of the amount I had paid. They denied both requests.

Duped into dishonest policy-Stay Away, read reviews

Allianz sells travel coverage on airlines website along with the travel ticket, advertising multiple coverages. When I actually had a delay of more than a day, I was sent into loops repeatedly asking same or different documents whenever I enquired.

The system is typically updated for new documents after a week or more and then they will push you for a fresh SLA cycle of another 30 days. After supplying 25+ pieces of documents, over more than six months, when I insisted to process it sooner, I was simply told that I had all other options but I didn't buy the delay option. Hello Allianz, News to you-- you do not sell the coverage with any a-la-carte options to choose from, on the airline websites. It's just the premium amount and a button to accept or decline travel insurance.

A clear case of duping and an intent of not paying any claim, till what-so-ever excuse works.

DO NOT EVER BUY ALLIANZ TRAVEL INSURANCE.

It's just marketing company with no intent to pay. The Agent were repeatedly caught lying. An examiner claimed that he has processed the claim but after few days another one said-no one with this name works here.

A customer agent claimed that he can't see any additional information beyond what's on public website, and 2-3 minutes later claimed that he is from claims department. The final examiner told me that it will take a week to go through the documents and process but on insisting to check the completeness of documentation, she basically processed it and declined within ten minutes.

I am fine if I am not covered but not happy when repeatedly lied to and duped.

American Airlines offers Allianz travel insurance for certain amount with just an option to accept/ decline and not with à la carte options to choose your preferred coverages. I have bought this as well and once when I got my trip interrupted when airline delayed my flight by a day in last moments, Allianz fooled me around for more than six months to make me give up, by asking same or different documents multiple times, then taking a week or more to record it before resetting the cycle for fresh SLA of 30 days.

I ended up providing about 2 dozen artifacts, proofs etc.

Employees are also dishonest. I was told by someone claiming to be an examiner that everything looks ok, only to told after 3 weeks that no one with that name works there. A customer care agent told that he can't see or seek any more information, beyond what's available on their public website, then claimed 2-3 minutes later that he is from claims department who process them. The cherry on top moment came when final examiner told me that she needs more than a week to process the documents but on insistence to at least check the completeness of documentation, she processed and denied it within few minutes, claiming that I did purchase the options cancelation and interruption but not for delay.

Let me break news to you Allianz, while buying from airlines website, you DO NOT provide any options at all.

And Delay is an interruption. Cancellation and rebooking is anyway covered by all airlines when they are at fault. I dont need to buy that coverage.

Allianz is basically a dishonest company, only trying to collect money as premium while denying claim under whatever excuses or tricks possible.

Signed up to take a cruise with Princess Cruise lines leaving out of San Diego. Needed to get some hotel rooms, the rooms were non-cancellable so I got trip cancellation insurance from Allianz.

Weeks later received an email letter from the president of Princess informing me that the cruise was cancelled because they could not find enough people to work the boat (You would think they would make certain they had people to work the boat before advertising the cruise, but that's another story). Anyway went to Allianz to get reimbursed and they say their insurance does not cover trip cancellation for this type of event even though their insurance docs say they DO!

Avoid Allianz like the plague - they do not honor their contracts.

Very similar experience. Ican totally relate.

They kept me hanging for six months for filmsy excuses and finally told me that it is not covered since I declined the option for coverage.

Truth: there were no options to select or choose from, and advertisement clearly mentioned that it was covered. The agent was generously offering to reimburse me ~$12, instead of ~$1085 covered.

Delayed payment - incorrect payment method - rude customer service

First, the processing time is lengthy for payment on a covered incident. Then, they sent the payment by check despite being told and information in my account for direct deposit.

It took them a week to void the check and I have yet to receive the "email" to AGAIN provide my direct deposit information.

On a second claim, required information is listed as missing despite the fact it was sent and the notes on the account indicate this. Then I will have to wait for them to send another check on that claim, void it, and wait for another EMAIL to provide the same direct deposit information given for the first claim.

I was speaking to a customer service agent who kept raising his voice and talking over me, then he hung up when I asked for the corporate complaint/resolution contact. Their process is BROKEN!

My vehicle was in the shop for repair and I bought insurance with Allianz when I reserved a car with Hertz Thrifty . I cancelled my reservation with Enterprise due to a change of plans and Allianz charged my credit card and after several calls for refund they have not yet resolved it. I am a truly pissed consumer!

Got my travel insurance for me and my wife, airline cancel all flights a month before my departure without giving me any options for any flights, I try to cancel my flight insurance online but can't submit, because it is more than 14 days from the time I purchase my insurance. I called, spoke with the Allianz agent, he said: I have to go back to Priceline to cancel my policy and change the dates for future flights, I ask him if he can do it for me, so my insurance is good for future flights for another 700 days.
He declined because I don't have a specific date of my flights in the future.

So they took my $170 and make it super difficult and complicated. When I was buying their policy it was so easy, but now they make it supper difficult!

It is insurance. If you have flood insurance on your home and it doesn't flood do you call up your insurance and ask for refund since you never needed it.

Or if your house doesn't burn down - do you get a refund since you did not need it.

Same with you car - if you don't have an accident do you get a refund at the end of the year? No - it is insurance for those unfortunate happenings in life that we can neither predict or want to happen but need protection for the "WHAT IF"

I received a text from Allianz stating they received my refund letter and documents on January 24, 2022. As of this morning, March 2, 2022, my refund is still "under review".

This is unacceptable Customer Service! Your company expects to be paid in a timely manner and as a customer, so do I!

Allianz asked for 3 weeks but it is very much over that time frame today. I may think twice about using Allianz in the future!

Complete Scam Company! Will not pay Death Coverage!

I am in complete disgust with this company. We planned as a family to go on a cruise.

All of us bought this "insurance", my aunt and uncle were going as well-COVID cancelled the cruise in 2021, so it moved to February 2022. Unfortunately, during this time my aunt found out she had cancer, and we hoped she would get better and didn't. She passed away January 2022. I had submitted documents beginning in December from her cancer doctor and then numerous other documents including the death certificate.

We are almost four months later, and they are stating it is still being reviewed. This is absolutely ridiculous. I have been reading that they fight to pay. Well, I know the cruise line and travel agency and will be sure they lose a TON of business.

We are planning on taking this to the next level and expose them on the news as a scam in insurance as well. They have no idea of our connections and how national this will go.

I have been waiting 3 months for "approval for payment" from this terrible company. They keep requesting the same information that has already been forwarded to them.

Beware, every time you resubmit, they add 30 days from date of receipt of the information to the "decision". Who would say their child had a severe brain injury requiring a 13 day in an intensive care as a false reason to collect on a claim??? We cancelled 1 week before our trip to fly out to get to the hospital she was taken to and submitted info quickly.

We need refund to continue to travel to help take care of her. Beware of this company.

This company is HORRENDOUS! I called customer service in order to get my money back due to inability to attend an event that I purchased tickets on.

Mika, on the phone was rude and not helpful. She stated that it was my job to tell them that the show had been postponed twice and rescheduled and my job to tell them that. She stated that since it didn't happen, then there was nothing they could do. WHAT A SCAM!

They literally take your money and run. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!

Cancellation policy

Allianz refused to reimburse me for policy cost associated with Delta flights that I had to cancel since my cruise was canceled. They just made a quick $100 for nothing.

Have used them in the past but will not do so ever again.

Delta gave credit for my canceled flights but Allianz is just taking the money and running. Bad policy - bad company!
